How to play

First one around the board wins.

Camp Cribbage follows the standard game to 121. If you already know a fifteen from a flush, pull up a chair. If not, this will get you through your first hand.

The goal

Race to 121

Move your pegs by scoring during the play and the show. The first player or team to reach 121 wins immediately.

Win while the other side is below 91 and it is a skunk. Keep them below 61 and it is a double skunk. Bragging rights are mandatory.

The deal

Build the crib

  1. Each player receives six cards in a two-player game.
  2. Choose two cards to place in the crib. The crib belongs to the dealer and is counted after both hands.
  3. The non-dealer cuts the starter card. Every hand and the crib use that card during the show.
  4. If the starter is a Jack, the dealer scores two immediately for “his heels.”

The play

Peg without passing 31

Starting with the non-dealer, players take turns laying one card while calling the running total. Face cards count 10; aces count 1. Nobody may take the total past 31.

  • 15 or 31: 2 points
  • Pair: 2 points; three of a kind scores 6; four scores 12
  • Run: the number of cards in the run, even when played out of order
  • Go: 1 point when the other player cannot continue and you played the last card under 31
  • Last card: 1 point at the end of the play, unless the card made 31

The show

Count every combination

The non-dealer counts first, followed by the dealer, then the dealer’s crib. Combine each four-card hand with the starter:

  • Fifteens: 2 points for every distinct combination totaling 15
  • Pairs: 2 points per pair
  • Runs: 1 point per card, including every distinct run when pairs multiply them
  • Flush: 4 points when all hand cards match; 5 if the starter matches too. The crib needs all five.
  • Nobs: 1 point for a Jack matching the starter’s suit

Camp Cribbage shows the cards behind every scoring line, so you can learn the count instead of taking the phone’s word for it.

Play heads-up against Toivo, add Aino for three-hand cribbage, or team up with Aino against Toivo and Lena in four-hand partners. Solo games work without Game Center.

Online tables

Sign in to Game Center, choose two, three, or four players, then pick a single game, best of three, best of five, or an unlimited series. Apple’s matchmaker can find a player or invite friends.

Your internet connection must remain active during a real-time match. If someone leaves or loses the connection, that match ends rather than guessing at a result.
